1. Name: Helen orcharacter_death
2. Age: 15
3. A) Have you read all of the Harry Potter books that are out currently? Yes, of course I have.
B) How many are there (excluding the two books done for charity)?
Well there is actually seven but the last one isn’t available yet (it will be on the 21 July 2007) so I’ve only read six of them.
C) Which one was your favourite? Explain.
Oh dear this takes some thinking. Well if anything it would have to be between the third and fourth, I’d say the third though because I just absolutely adore the scene where Hermione slaps Draco. You’ll have to forgive me though because I’m bias and there is also the matter that I’m a dramione shipper. Admittedly though the whole plot was brilliant and I absolutely love the whole timeturner idea and how Harry mistakes himself for his father (even though his dad's dead). However now you come to mention it I also quite like the manipulative Tom Riddle in the second book (what can I say something about Slytherins and there evil ways always makes me smile, it is a pity Harry won).
4. A) If you attended Hogwarts, what would be your favourite subject?
Oh I like this question probably Charms, all those excellent spells which can be used in battle, maybe a devious little charm to spy on unsuspecting victims (hey, before you start muttering it’s just curiosity who says I’ll use any of this later on to blackmail them ); follows up with puppy dog eyes.
B) Why? Defence Against The Dark Arts is all well and good but who wants to learn about your enemy when you can quite simply eavesdrop on their conversations besides forget crucio it’s the simple, basic spells which can be used and they’re not anticipated. For example an inconspicuous sticker with a spell to record all the information that the person voices during your chosen period of time. You then brush against the person taking the sticker with you and bingo you have the knowledge of what they have been doing. Blackmail can make a person do anything for you they don’t even need an imperio and to top it all off they hate the fact that you have control of them. When you’re finished then simply use a memory spell so they don’t come running for revenge.
5. If you could store one memory in a Pensieve, what would it be? Explain.
Well it would have to be something I’d like to forget, so maybe the memory of being bullied.
6. If you were to face a boggart, what do you think it would it turn into? Explain why you think this.
Fire lots of it consuming me until I’m nothing but a blackened corpse and everybody surrounding my body cackling over it glad that I’m gone. I would never want to be deserted and to find that everyone wants me dead so to me that would be torture. To add to that I’ve always feared fire having experienced tonnes of nightmares about it which keep me awake at night. Just the idea of burning slowly is terrible.
7. What do you think you would you see in the Mirror of Erised?
Well to put it politely since I entered the education system gaining friends has not been the easiest task. Mostly from the beginning everyone forms a negative opinion of me (something of which i have come to accept). However with fellow classmates i have found that they have taken to acting like they are my friends for a space of time only to then turn away from me for no reason. Even this I could accept yet the problem doesn't stop there, having 'pretended' to be my friend they often proceed to taunt and hurt me for amusement. Needless to say all I would see in Mirror of Erised would be a simple scene of all the people that claim to 'hate' me or in some backward cases claim that i was the one to 'hate' them first (just a tad childish don't you think?) either leaving the country or staying as far away from me as possible. Yes, I say simple when i mostly mean complex because when i say this i refer only to the background as my priority in the image would be acceptance (not the word). I would picture my family not constantly putting me to one side and then to the right of that just one person who would listen and understand. Many people have tried to listen but not one of them have ever mannaged to understand. The truth is I became an angel to try and stop people disliking me (something which i have never been) and should i change in all honesty the friends i do have would go with the rest of the traitors. Probably too much to ask for but there you are.
8. Would you have put your name in the Goblet of Fire? Explain your reasoning.
No, I would be terrified of being fried by the Dragon, that and I lack the confidence to take such a massive risk. Did I also mention that I’m scared of heights and can’t swim (I’m also panicky around water thinking I’ll drown). The idea of getting lost in that maze would be horrible in itself, yet when you contemplate experiencing a boggart that would be the final line to cross for me to say an outright no. I'm not one to object running about an ordinary maze but this type of maze seems too much like a death threat. Besides, how can i possibly take over the world and compete in the tournament? However the sphinx featured in the book (contained within the maze) was absolutely fantastic. That would have been absolutely brilliant for me because i absolutely adore solving puzzles, especially riddles!
9. A) Would you use an Unforgiveable Curse, and if so, under what circumstances would you use an Unforgivable Curse?
Yes, when it comes down to it if its that person’s life or mine. I’ll always choose mine, I may hate myself later but I have a survival instinct that won’t let me sacrifice myself for the sake of morals. I will look for an alternative but if It doesn’t emerge that would be my decision.
As I’ve said before if it’s a battle for survival I’ll fight dirty.
10. What house do you think you would be wrong to be put in, and why?
Hufflepuff because it’s a house for people who are too good and kind and innocent for their own good. No offence to any people placed in hufflepuff but happiness and friendliness won't save you from being killed in a war but brains and cunning will! Maybe i am stereotyping but they don't strike me as the sort of house to take any risks, that and they probably don't have an evil bone in their body. Dump me in their and the odds are unless they are all secretely undercover and planning something devious they'll probably only get a yawn in reaction to anything they could possibly say to me.
11. Put the following words in order of importance to you: Adventurous, Ardent, Acute, Crafty, Benevolent, Accommodating, Burlesque, Drive. Please explain your top three and the one you place last.
Crafty: The only way to outdo your opponent is to think like them and quite often they tend to be crafty. What can I say you have to use what you got to your advantage and if that means playing underhanded well tough. People wouldn’t believe I’m writing this because the easiest way to remain unimportant is to act like an angel and be a complete and utter do-gooder. I could step over people but then I have a conscience however make no mistakes about it there is a line and people who cross it can expect all the craftiness I have.
Drive: This comes second because it keeps me standing and if I didn’t have it, well lets just say I wouldn’t still be around. If your determined to succeed at everything then the chances are it’s there for the taking. What you have to tell yourself is: do I want this? If the answer is yes go for it, if not then you have to make sure you don’t become involved in it because acting in a way that supports how you feel is the only way that you stay true to yourself.
Ardent: I’m passionate to a certain extent in most cases I’m timid however if I feel strongly about something I could stand in front of a million people arguing against me and give them what for. Fear disappears as soon as anger takes its place. I place this third because passion ain’t the way to go at all. When I’m like this I could say or do anything to someone and there is a part of me which would dislike that very much. Control is valuable if you don’t have it be prepared to be trodden on and to quote: “Those who anger you, conquer you”.
And last place goes to: Accommodating, if it doesn’t suit what you want, fight against it because accepting everything a person says is useless. I may be sounding selfish here but I have never in my life met someone who is always right. Make that person have to convince you, if they can’t justify what their saying with a reason then the odds are you shouldn’t be accommodating.
12. What single quality do you feel goes the furthest in defining who you are? Explain why.
Honesty, even if the truth hurts I will tell that person what I think because it’s the only way to go with me. Lying is pointless because your deceiving yourself. I’ll be the first one to admit that I am blunt to the core but one day that person may well thank me for it. You have to however draw the line if telling the truth turns to stating the facts with only the aim to hurt then I would not intentionally do it.
13. What makes a person deserving of your respect?
They have to be strong and not just bow down in front of someone else, out of everything I hate people that are too spineless to stand up to someone. People out there are cruel the only way you can survive is if you put your foot down. I have to be capable of trusting them, if I am incapable of trusting them then the odds are I am unlikely to respect them.
14. What character from the series do you most relate to? Explain.
What a question! Okay this is going to sound awfully shocking but Snape (though he does really need to wash his hair). I can imagine his sadness turning to aggression at the constant taunting and bullying he experienced and I believe he is misunderstood. He is clever enough to invent spells and shortcuts as shown in HBP and I think he has the capability to be a better Dark Lord than Voldermort. Correct me if I’m wrong (try not to become angry at what I’m about to say) but if the marauders hadn’t been so horrible I reckon he could have turned out to be perfectly decent.
15. What qualities do you possess from each of the four houses (Please try choosing one from each)?
Ravenclaw: I’m intelligent and hard-working.
Slytherin: I'm capable of back-stabbing (Capable, I never said i'm likely to)
Gryffindor: If I believe in something i'll fight for it.
Hufflepuff: I can be loyal if I trust the person.
16. A) If you could change one thing about yourself, would you? Definitely.
B) What would it be if you did?
C) Why? Often the reason why people dislike me is because I am way to blunt. If my way of thinking wasn’t so to the point then maybe I wouldn’t have gotten bullied.
17. How did you find us? If it was from a post say where and who posted it (If possible, please leave a link to the actual post you saw.)
Just browsing and happened to spot it.
18. Have you applied before? If so, can you please leave a link to your last application?
19. A) Why should we accept you?
I won’t force your decision, it would just be rather good if you gave me a chance.
B)What makes you different than the other applicants we’re reviewing after you?
I’m original. You won’t find a person with the same feelings or opinions as me I can guarantee.
20. How many hours weekly do you expect to be able to put into this community?
I’m usually online every day but of course sometimes I’m busy with work so it would vary entirely but it would be at least an hour.
21. Please leave some way of communication (either e-mail or AIM) here.
22. If you are sorted into a House that does not have an Head of House, would you be interested in being one?
You’ll hardly ever hear me say no, so I most certainly won’t object.
